What lands on the watchlist
The watchlist is generated automatically twice a day: conflicts whose 30-day event count is accelerating, and any index that has moved five points or more within a week. The movers table ranks every index by the size of its 7-day change, so the fastest-moving part of the world is always at the top.
What the escalation watchlist is
The short list of what could get worse. This page pulls together every index that has moved unusually far in the last 7 days, plus every conflict the engine has marked escalating. It is the page to check when you have one minute, not ten.
How an item gets on the list. An index qualifies when its 7-day move is outside its normal range for this year. A conflict qualifies when its headline count runs 25% or more above the previous month. Both drop off automatically when the move fades.
How to use it. Read the note next to each item: it tells you the size of the move and its direction. Then open the index or the conflict roster for the story behind it. Quiet weeks show an empty list, and that is a signal too.
